My children's godmother, Annabelle Neilson, gave me these wonders straight from Lee’s show. Lee was a gift; his talent was unmatched, his heart unrivaled. Annabelle was his best friend and in another life, I am sure they’d have been married. It was the worst day of my adult life to hear about her distress over his death. It's so hard when everything overcomes reason, and you're left behind in the depths of blackness, feeling that it would be better to be in a place where you can't see, feel or hear. But then your heart might skip a beat, and the realization of life can encompass even the most distressed. Sad that the skip didn’t come to create a longer life for him, because we’re all still here wishing he was, too. Shoes, Alexander McQueen #inline_01

I would totally wear these two pieces together in the summer, it's such a fresh combination. Classical attraction with a cutting edge design—I could just skip down the street in these!

The juxtaposition between the Hepburn-cut of the dress with the 21st century pattern and the 50s design are altogether ideal for a summer cocktail party. I may not get the chance to wear it at the aforementioned, so I will wear it on my next shoot.

The bathroom was put together from salvage pieces around the Kingdom. It's been so much fun exploring the history of the house and combining modern (in relation to the building) plumbing artifacts with a more historical feel.

This dress is a beautiful piece hand-embroidered in India, and it combines ancient traditions with a contemporary style. It's so great when I slip on something Justin and Thea have made and I can transform immediately from being stressed, old, and hard-working to fabulous, cool and brilliant in ONE ZIP! It can make a woman feel like a girl, and when I was younger, it made me feel like a woman.

Justin and Thea made this early on for Kate Moss's wedding; it works so well with flats so you can dance all night long.

These cannonballs are from Sir Walter Raleigh's estate, dredged from the River Dart, and a couple have impact marks on them. The smaller ones are the musket balls from the same area and period.

The Margiela shoes I got from a wonderful eclectic shop called 127bricklane.com. They sell everything from vintage Margiela to current Gareth Pugh pieces. I loved the style—they really reminded me of my favourite black patent sex-shop boots (that Preen used in their first or second show ever), which I wore to death. The update with two-tone snakeskin made me so happy to find. The firs time I wore them was to Rose Ferguson's birthday party.Shoes, Maison Martin Margiela #inline_04

The print and the cuff around your foot makes these a joy to wear.Shoes, Aldo x Preen#inline_05

These are the staple heel for the season—there ain’t no better. They work on every level and they're black so they work with everything. It's not just about Preen making shoes, it's about what you can create with Preen's designs.
Shoes, Aldo x Preen #inline_06

Justin and Thea are so clever with texture and print—so brilliantly researched. I am so mad for designers who don’t have a huge company backing them. Until a year ago, everything Preen did was made in London. I love the brilliance of the texture on leather and the colour of the print. I LOVE the seaweed print!Shoes, Aldo x Preen; Hats, Vintage#inline_07

This bed is the best place on earth: four hundred years of brilliance. The mattress had to be hand-made. It looks perfect with my beautiful McQueen coat that is hand-made with an edition number inside. Coat, Alexander McQueen#inline_08

Justin and Thea have been a complete inspiration, and to be a part of Preen is a treasured thing. Every day I wake up and count my blessings. They have been dressing me for thirteen years, bringing a different perspective to women’s wear that combines an architectural graphical edge with a feminine delicateness. One of their best pieces of advice to me was to wear all my wardrobe pieces at any time—for the ‘major’ frocks to be worn during the day with a shirt or a T-shirt. Belt up, layer and go forth. Change the world one Preen dress at a time.Top, Preen#inline_09

I can't tell you how much I deal with the dichotomy of Preen: they feel like they are part of my daily life, yet they alienate me each season; they stimulate me further, they never relent. I remember Lee McQueen saying he respected them more than any other designer in and out of our era. I am so gobsmacked at what they have made that I couldn’t even begin to feel anything but privileged to be a part of their team.
The record sleeve is from Dr. Lakra, a Mexican artist who specializes in tattooing found objects. His first U.K. show was at the Kate MacGarry Gallery, and Jason LOVED it.
Charles Saatchi bought the entire show before it even opened. I went and asked a favour from Kate, and he was such a darling he agreed to make a one-off for my boy.

Jerry Lee says it all here. It's all about what you feel. And no one can change that.

We had the most beautiful collection of brilliant beetles and a couple of butterflies that had weirdly survived from the Deyrolle taxidermy store in Paris (which had caught fire in 2008). We had them re-framed, from their burnt box, yet sadly this year we woke one day to find them shattered on the floor. Poppy and Hank collected the remains and made the collage we see now. We have another collection of beetles from the same era, but we keep them in a cupboard now, to prevent any mishaps.
Beatles, Vintage

These are my favourite pants ever. Behind them is a homage to the spaceman. The image is Buzz Aldrin taken by Neil Armstrong, and again re-appropriated by Warhol. The silver pants and the studded lace pants are as rock & roll as the image—and my boyfriend. Pants, Preen; Shoes, Aldo x Preen#inline_12

I wore these shoes to the John Carter premiere. Shoes, Aldo x Preen #inline_13

Daniel Johnston is a special performer who has struggled with life as well as many demons. We went to his first show in London and took him for dinner afterwards. His father, who travelled everywhere with him, brought out Daniel's drawings and I immediately bought as many as I could with all the cash I had at the time.
The colours are so vibrant, exciting, and shocking, and they perfectly match the insanely cool Preen belts that I intend to collect as long as I live—as I do with Daniel's works.
Belts, Preen #inline_14

This dress is another gift from my darling Annabelle Neilson. The pattern is so crazy. The guitar is a left-handed one for my son to learn on. Of all the guitars in the house, this is the least impressive but the sweetest sounding. Dress, Miu Miu #inline_15

This dress is inspired by the Kyoto Geisha dresses from Japan. It's silk and it's so sheer that you always have to wear a piece underneath it. It's accompanied by some of the smaller designs made by my Lego-obsessed son, Hank. They are flanked by curtains I made for him. Dress, Preen #inline_16
